Not everyone experiences the world the same way. For neurodivergent individuals — and those who support them — understanding your sensory profile can be a genuinely useful starting point for making more informed choices about your environment, your routines, and the products you use.
That's exactly what the SOFT™ Sensory Wellbeing Assessment is designed to help with.
What is a sensory wellbeing assessment?
A sensory wellbeing assessment is a structured intake process that helps you build a clearer picture of your sensory needs, patterns, and preferences. It's not a clinical diagnosis — it's a facilitated, reflective process that gives you language and insight to work with.
At Burnt Orchid Organics™, our assessment uses the SOFT™ method, developed by Annette Friar, aromatherapist and sensory inclusion facilitator. It covers your sensory history, your current wellbeing goals, and the kinds of sensory experiences — including scent — that feel supportive or overwhelming for you.
Who is it for?
The SOFT™ Sensory Wellbeing Assessment is designed for:
- Autistic adults and young people exploring their sensory needs
- Parents and carers wanting to better understand a child's sensory profile
- Anyone who finds certain scents, textures, or environments difficult to navigate
- People who want personalised aromatherapy recommendations before choosing products
What do you receive?
Everything happens by email, at your own pace. After completing a detailed intake form, you'll receive a written summary of your sensory profile along with initial recommendations for sensory-safe aromatherapy and wellbeing strategies relevant to you.
There's no time pressure, no clinical setting, and no obligation to continue further.
How does it connect to aromatherapy?
Scent is one of the most immediate sensory inputs we experience — and for neurodivergent individuals, it can be both a source of comfort and a source of overwhelm. Understanding your sensory profile helps you make more intentional choices about the aromatherapy products you use: which scent families feel grounding; which formats (spray, roller, or diffuser) suit your nervous system; and which ingredients to avoid.
The assessment is a standalone service, but it naturally informs how you might approach the rest of the Burnt Orchid Organics range.
Ready to find out more?
The SOFT™ Sensory Wellbeing Assessment is available as a standalone service. If you have questions before booking, you're welcome to get in touch — there's no obligation.
This assessment is a sensory wellbeing facilitation service. It is non-clinical and does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
